3 Months, 29 Days

So according to my little countdown I added on here, it appears our seeminly 8 month stretch is narrowing down on us. Cail informed me today that as of today, I have the amount of time she planned her entire wedding in. Yikes!

A lot has been taken care of, but there is a lot yet to do. I have ordered my veil and my dress should come in sometime in September. Chris picked out the tuxedos and I got an email out to the groomsmen and Dads regarding that earlier today. The guest list is confirmed and only lacking a few addresses which I am working on getting.

The hardest part is scheduling the fall weekends! Scheduling showers and events around football season has become very difficult. I have been offered a shower by my bridesmaid Rebecca and her sweet Mom - "Miss Jo" in Warrenton. This will be on Oct. 11th. My Aunt Ann and cousin Dana are hosting a shower in Augusta on Oct. 10th. It will be a fun filled shower weekend, but I am just glad to have two dates set in stone. So now, I am working on getting together my guests lists for these two events.

On top of wedding planning, Chris and I have a bit of "life planning" going on as well. Im off to Orlando for a conference next week in hopes of securing some job opportunties. Chris and I are fairly certain my career will be moving us to Atlanta. A little over a year ago, we strategically placed ourselves in jobs at Lake Oconee as we tried to finally start planning a life together. But God had different plans for us, and I can honestly say, we are truly excited about whatever is next. As I try to firm up my career plans, Chris is looking for a job in Atlanta, and we are trying to find a place to live. Anna and I did a bit of apartment searching a few weekends ago, but essentially struck out. Once I return from Orlando, hopefully we will have some official news on my job and can start making more definate decisions about our future.

Thats all I have for now. To whoever out there actually reads this, thanks! And more later !

Registering and What Not....

Last Wednesday Chris and I hit the road and finally registered. For a girl who is an expert internet shopper and a guy who requires on that girl to shop for him, registering was no easy task. We almost came to blows over silver ware....but in the end, all is well. We are successfully registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Macys

We are working on getting together some accommodation options for the wedding party and out of town guests. I should have more details on it in the next few weeks.

Mom and I are going to go sometime this week and try to pin down some accessories that I need, as well as take a trip to Michael's and try to come up with some decoration ideas. We'll see how that all progresses!

That's all I have for now!

Catering Meeting

**Edited to Add More on the Bad week of Chris and Leigh**

Chris and I meet with the caterer this week and started to plan our food for the big day. We were really excited after our meeting, and have realized with our budget we are going to be able to afford way more than we had thought! The Rock Eagle people have been amazing and I am looking forward to working with them over the next few months.

We are really making progress and I feel like everything is moving along smoothly. Please keep Chris and I in your prayers as I have received some bad news professionally. We have faith that things will work out, but any prayers would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Leigh

** On top of my professional misfortune, Chris was the victim of a suicidal deer late Friday night (early Saturday morning) Chris is ok....with the exception of a sore neck. I cant say so much for the deer....who ended his journey here on earth at approximately 2:17 a.m. on Saturday morning. Chris's blazer is currently on life support...and we will receive its diagnosis in the next few days...its not looking like survival is likely. We still consider ourselves BLESSED! We are both healthy...and I thank God Chris is ok....**

Big News!

Well, its big news for me. I have bought my dress. There will be no pictures of my dress here, not that Chris actually ever looks at this, but if for some reason he did, I want him to be surprised about my dress!

I ordered my dress at the wonderful Elegant Bridals is Augusta. I was thrilled with my experience there. Mom and Jenny went with me. My first shopping trip was in Atlanta. I turned up empty handed at that place, but had a good day with my sisters and mom. Anna made a special "wedding dress shopping brunch" and was sure to serve it on my Granny's old dishes...for dramatic effect! It was a lot of fun, and even though I didn't find my dress that day, I enjoyed the day!

Throughout my two shopping trips, Cail and Jenny both had the chance the try on the bridesmaid dress. (which is now confirmed!) Both of them looked great in the dress, and seemed to like it. (if they didn't like it, they sure put on a good show!)

In other news, I have several things that are booked. I have reserved a D.J., a minister, our venue, and our florist/photographer. The more big things we get taken care of, the closer we get to worrying about the details. We still have not met with the caterer, which will be the last thing we need to do to get all of our "big picture" items taken care of. Much to Moms excitement, we will soon be able to start talking about centerpieces, decoration and arrangement! Her most favorite parts!

That's all I have for now. Enjoy a few pictures from the shopping adventures of the past few weeks.

With Mom and Anna...and hundreds of dresses! Yikes!

Cail smiling at how much she likes my choice in bridesmaid dresses!

Jenny realizing we are gonna have to take about a foot off the bottom of this dress for it to fit her!!

That's all for now. More to come as more develops.

Change of Date!

Well, it turns out our venue of choice is booked on our date of choice. So, our wedding date has been changed to December 5th, 2009! The good news, is that is 7 whole days sooner! The bad news, is that is 7 whole days sooner!

There is so much do in the coming months, it can be a bit overwhelming when you look at everything ahead. We are in the process of getting a contract made up with Rock Eagle, and our date is reserved. Ive spoken with a photographer as well as a florist. We will then be scheduling a meeting with the caterer to discuss food. This is one thing Chris is excited about and wants to be a part of! So, Im excited that he cares!!

Once we nail down all the "big picture" things we can start worrying about the fun stuff. Seven months will fly by before we know it,

We are excited!!! You should be too!

Bridesmaid Dresses

I have spent a lot of time worrying about bridesmaid dresses! A few weeks ago, I decided I was fed up with looking online, and Anna and I hit the road to actually try on some dresses. We chose a Saturday with terential rains and slick wet roads! But nothing could stop us on our trip.

We went to two places in Augusta. The first shall remain nameless. All I will say is we had a less that stellar experience there, and walked away with no good leads. The next place we went was a winner!

We saw the dress that we had picked out online as "the dress" Cail had maintained this dress wouldn't look as good in person as it did online, but I would not hear it. Until Anna tried it on.....

Here it is on Anna. See the difference ? (No offense Anna...)

It just was not the dress in person that I wanted it to be. So, we picked out a few more dresses and looked for "the dress"

I am very much a "I will know it when I see it" type of girl. This has been my shopping method as long as I have been a shopper! Anna tried on several more dresses as my personal model. Nothing really "wowed" me. Then she tried on this black dress that I had grabbed off the rack because I liked the top. When she put it on, I knew this was it. Now, before this moment having the bridesmaids wear black had not crossed my mind....but when I saw her in this dress, I just knew I had it.

And if you cant tell much about it, look at it here.

Anna tested is "dance-ability" and says it is very comfortable. The dress has a train on it, but it can be ordered with the train sewn up, which is likely what we will do. I am still not sure exactly where we will order them from. They all have to be ordered from the same place to get the same dye lot. So, I am researching all that and will let you know as we progress.

I am reserving the right to say this may or may not be my final decision on bridesmaid dresses. After I select my dress I will either confirm or deny this selection. (but I reallllly like this! and hope this is it!!)

That is all for now. Next time I will tell you about my visit with the wedding planner.

Thanks for reading!

Intro

Hey Everyone! Chris and I (mainly me!) decided to start a page so that anyone who cares about our wedding planning can know what is going on. We forget who we have told what and who cares to know what, so everyone will have access to anything they care to know about! If you don't care about it, then don't read!

We got engaged on March 17th 2009 in Pigeon Forge TN on our vacation. Chris gave me a beautiful ring that I instantly recognized as my Granny's. He got the ring from my sister Cail and had some work done on it to make it new again. He succeeded! I was thrilled and am In love with my ring!

First things first, we agreed on a date - December 12, 2009. I wanted the fall. Chris wanted January. We compromised and that date was decided!

As we began to think about planning I asked Chris how involved he wanted to be. He told me to to tell him when and where...and he would be there. While I do tell him everything that happens during the process, if doesn't care about things such as center pieces and colors, I'm not going to be offended.

I have selected my bridesmaids...and asked them to be in the wedding. While, I believe Chris has made his selections, I don't think he has asked anyone as of yet. He feels he has "plenty of time" My bridesmaids will be:

Maid of Honor: Anna Newsome / Younger Sister
Matron of Honor: Cail Newsome Hammons / Older Sister
Bridesmaid: Jenny Bellamy Mooney / Childhood friend
Bridesmaid: Rebecca Johnson Lee / Childhood friend
Bridesmaid: Courtney Henowitz / College friend

My sisters, brother- in- law and I visited a potential wedding location a few weeks ago. We toured Rock Eagle in Eatonton, GA. Chris and I like the Rock Eagle location for many reasons. First of all, it is centrally located between our two families. Second, initially, it appears to be within our budgets.

Possible reception location - Pavalion at Rock Eagle

Possible ceremony location. Chapel at Rock Eagle

Thats all for now. I will update soon with pictures from mine and Anna's bridesmaid dress shopping trip as well as details from my meeting with a wedding planner.

Until next time!
